Everything readers ask about scaling recipes and converting measurements.

How do I scale a recipe up or down?

Divide the desired servings by the original servings to get a multiplier, then multiply every ingredient by it. From 4 to 6 servings the multiplier is 1.5, so 200 g becomes 300 g. The scaler does this automatically.

How many grams is 1 cup of flour?

About 125 g for all-purpose flour, 127 g for bread flour and 114 g for cake flour.

Why does the ingredient matter when converting cups to grams?

A cup is a volume measure, so the weight depends on density. Flour is light (125 g) while honey is heavy (340 g) for the same cup.

Do I scale cooking time when I scale a recipe?

No. Keep the temperature and increase time only a little, checking early. Larger batches and deeper pans need slightly longer.

What is the formula for scaling a recipe?

Multiplier = desired servings ÷ original servings. Multiply every amount by it.

Are UK and US cups the same?

No. A US cup is 236 ml and a UK/AU cup is 250 ml — roughly 6% more.

Is this recipe scaler free?

Yes. Both tools are free, need no sign-up, and run entirely in your browser — nothing is stored or uploaded.

Can I use it for baking?

Yes, and weighing in grams is recommended for baking because it is far more consistent than scooping by volume.
